Inspiration that Clicks

Inspiration that Clicks.

What a wonderful idea! Poetry was always a very delicate subject to me. As an avid reader, it is almost embarrasing to admit that I have never paid much attention to this form of writing. In other words, poetry books were never on top of my book list I borrowed from the library. After reading Erica’s post, I felt diffrently about poetry. I have checked out books from Shel Silverstein and Beowulf in the past and I have also read some poetry in Spanish like Martin Fierro and Don Quijote de la Mancha. I understand that, with my limited knowledge about poetry and the magnitud of these type of books, it might heen quite too much to digest, except those from S.S. But, I think by subscribing to poets.org I will spend a few minutes a day and that, will probably, give me more “tangible” material to work with.

I am very excited to learn about poetry and also to get to know and read more this form of writing. This inspiration really clicked! This tip was really useful. I hope writers out there are taking advantage of these great sites. Thank you!

Brainstorming

As I was lying on my bed this morning. I was thinking about my commitment to the challenge of writing everyday. I thought of writing about something for my children, and about something that will keep teaching me, and my children for ever. While I was thinking about that, a lot of  ideas came to my mind and, voilá, my brainstorming began!

However,  Nothing sounded interesting to me. Everything seemed boring. This always happens to me, and for this reason, I couldn’t keep up with my “post a Day” challenge in 2011.

It would make me very sad if it happens to me again. Then…the light came! You see, I am originally from Argentina. I have always told stories about my home country to my kids; my own father is a story teller himself, and I remember him telling stories to us about family members and events in Argentina. I have always enjoyed them. I  enjoy preserving family history in a special way.  Last month we have declared Arts and Crafts Fridays as part of  our homeschool  curriculum, and it has been great!  It really inspired me in so many ways.

I think it is very important to keep personal stories, and stories of the place you grew up, alive. I hope I don’t bore you to death and you want to keep coming back for more! I is my hope you enjoy my facts mixed with fantasy about the country to which I own, the respect of knowing its history and part of who I am =i=

Trust me, I have been writing; just not on my personal blog. I have started homeschooling my children and it has been challenging for our entire family. So many things to organize and schedules to keep up with, that I barely have time to write on my personal blog and writing nooks I have all over the place. I see my blogs as books I never published on paper! I see them as an excellent way to practice English and my typing skills. Am I a writer? I don’t know. All I know is that I truly enjoy the written word. I like to sit at the computer or in my garden just thinking about writing. Everything I see, every situation I am in, every picture I take, it becomes a great opportunity for me to write about.

When I went to Argentina last year, one of my closest friends in high school reminded me that I liked to write back then. I did not recall doing this in High school; however I do remember doing it, a lot, during my early years. It was very nice to hear from someone who shared time with me during our crazy time in High school that I enjoyed writing. My family already gave up telling me not to have many blogs, I cannot help it! I enjoy writing, I like to see my words on a piece of paper, I enjoy other peoples writing and I love to read. I don’t always have the time to do it, but I surely strive to accomplish writing, reading and typing.

I discovered I like to write and where I like to do it? You guessed it; in my garden and on my desk, facing my garden! I have been practicing writing for, at least, five uninterrupted years! And I always feel that I am so inadequate and that I need more practice! Anyhow, I think my next thing will be trying to discover my voice. Everybody talks about “the voice of the writer” “find your voice” “what is your voice” I am not quite sure I understand what this is, but I will work on it.
